ESKA

Picture
Image description - ESKA is a black woman with long black braided hair with red scrunchies. She has large gold earrings and wears a white t-shirt against a teal green background. She is looking upwards.

ESKA has worked internationally as an artist, performer, choral director and producer across a two-decade genre-hopping career.  She has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages and festivals as a solo artist alongside collaborating with a host of internationally renowned artists including the likes of Baaba Maal, Zero 7, Nitin Sawhney, Tony Allen, Matthew Herbert, The Cinematic Orchestra, UNKLE and Grace Jones.

ESKA has contributed as a song-writer, musician or arranger on over 150 released titles, including three Mercury-nominated albums alongside her own self-titled debut album.  She has led an array of vocal ensembles, collaborating with contemporary music artists including the likes of Bobby McFerrin and Matthew Herbert.  She was Music Director of Goldsmiths Vocal Ensemble (Goldsmiths University) for 7 years.
As an arts facilitator, ESKA has led and devised song-writing, composition, performance workshops in theatres and various academic institutions.  She is an associate artist at Albany Theatre, Deptford.
Currently, ESKA is completing a 2nd solo album and writing her first opera (incorporating binaural technology), as one of only 3 UK composers commissioned in 2018 for new opera development by the Royal Opera House.
Voice for Wellbeing Masterclass
Thursday 5 November 2020 10:30am-12pm

Little Cog invites disabled artists to join ESKA to help us celebrate the culmination of our Masterclass programme with something a little bit different. In a world where we are fighting for equality and inclusion, or battling obstacles and barriers, we need to remember to look out for ourselves.

A masterclass 'Voices For Wellbeing' is a chance to explore and look after your voice. ESKA has designed and is leading an
experimental workshop which aims to explore breathing and vocalising as a means of connecting back to the soul of singing.  Our voices are housed in our bodies and one can't be well without the other...

Sign up for free now to secure your place on this Little Cog masterclass.
Each masterclass is for disabled artists and will be accessible but please tell us your access requirements on booking. Please DO NOT book if you are not a disabled person.
Zoom details will be sent to you the day before the workshop.

Funded by Arts Council Emergency Response Fund
