Funny Peculiar
Disabled Women in Comedy

Funny Ha Ha is a brand new project we are supporting developed by Vici Wreford-Sinnott. After unleashing her comedy character Raquelle Squlech at the Disconsortia DIY Cabaret in 2019, Vici thought it was so much fun and took her back to her much earlier and frankly shortlived (due to stage terrors) stand up career, that maybe it was time to bring a few disabled women together to write alongside each other and test a bit of comedy writing and performance together. Maybe half a dozen women might be interested. She put a call out on Twitter and over 60 disabled women from all over the country got in touch. All wanting to get their comedy pants on and get together. So this was much bigger than Vici thought and was going to tale longer to organise than originally planned. And that's where we are now - planning and fundraising....but something amazing is going to happen so watch this space! There is something very powerful about large numbers of disabled women laughing together and creating together. We need this. We need this to remain visible, to speak up and to roar into the next decade.
